Here’s a 25-minute motivational speech by Gerald Crawford on a 5-step plan to Activate Your Self-awareness, with examples and testimonials:
Introduction
Hello, everyone! My name is Gerald Crawford, and I’m the founder of Self-Awareness.co.za. Today, I want to share with you a 5-step plan to activate your self-awareness. Self-awareness is the key to unlocking your full potential, achieving your goals, and living a fulfilling life. It’s the ability to understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and to make conscious choices that align with your values and goals. With self-awareness, you’ll be able to navigate and overcome obstacles, with understanding build stronger relationships, and achieve success in parts of your life, internally and externally.
Minutes 6-10: Step 1 – Identify Your Values
The first step to activating your self-awareness is to identify your values. Your values are the principles that guide your decisions and actions. They’re the foundation of your self-awareness, and they’ll help you stay focused on what’s truly important to you. For example, if one of your values is honesty, you’ll be more likely to speak up when you see something that’s not right, even if it’s uncomfortable. Take a moment to reflect on your values.
What’s most important to you?
Is it family, integrity, or creativity?
See the list on the Screen.
Write down your top 10, then 5, then 3 values .
One of our clients, Sarah, said, “Identifying and understanding my values and understanding how I navigate my life with them helped me to see how I priorities and make decisions that align with what’s truly important to me. It’s been life-changing! This one thing has made me more loving and compassionate for myself and others around me.”
Minutes 11-12: Step 2 – Practice Mindfulness
The second step to activating your self-awareness is to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment, without judgment. It’s about paying attention to your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, without getting caught up in them. Becoming the observer of them. You can practice mindfulness through meditation, deep breathing, or simply paying attention to your senses. As you sit there let us all do a 6 minutes meditation exercise, take a few minutes to focus on your breath, feeling the sensation of the air moving in and out of your body. (music) Let us do breath, body, and mind breathing together. This will help you to calm your mind, reduce stress, and increase your self-awareness.
Minutes 13-14: Step 3 – Recognize Your Emotional Triggers
The third step to activating your self-awareness is to recognize your emotional triggers. Emotional triggers are the things that set you off, making you feel angry, sad, or anxious. They can be people, situations, or events, and they’re often linked to past experiences or conditioning. Once you’re aware of your emotional triggers, you can start to manage them, and respond to challenging situations in a more thoughtful and intentional way. For example, if you know that you tend to get defensive when someone criticizes you, you can take a step back, breathe, and respond in a more calm and constructive way. With understanding you now see you choose your reaction to situations.
As one of our clients, John, said, “Recognizing my emotional triggers has helped me to stay peaceful and calm in stressful situations, I allowed the love and compassion inside me to help to build stronger relationships with myself, my family, my colleagues and my friends.”
Minutes 15-18: Step 4 – Develop Self-Reflection
The fourth step to activating your self-awareness is to develop self-reflection. Self-reflection is the practice of regularly examining your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and exploring how they’re impacting your life. You can do this through journaling, talking to a friend or coach, or simply taking time to reflect on your experiences. This takes time.
For now lets ask yourself questions like,
“What did I learn today?”,
“What could I have done differently?”, and
“What am I grateful for?”
This will help you to identify areas for improvement, celebrate your successes, and develop a greater understanding of yourself.
Minutes 19-22: Step 5 – Take Conscious Action
The fifth and final step to activating your self-awareness is to take conscious action. This means making intentional choices that align with your values, goals, and aspirations. It’s about taking responsibility for your life, and being proactive in creating the life you want. For example, if you want to start a new business, you could take conscious action by researching your market, creating a business plan, and taking the first steps to make it happen.
As one of our clients, Emily, said, “Taking conscious action has helped me to achieve my goals, and to live a more fulfilling life. I feel more confident, capable, and in control of my life.”
Minutes 23-25: Conclusion
In conclusion, activating your self-awareness is a powerful way to transform your life, and achieve your goals. By following these 5 steps – identifying your values, practicing mindfulness, recognizing your emotional triggers, developing self-reflection, and taking conscious action – you’ll be able to develop a greater understanding of yourself, and make intentional choices that align with your values and goals.
Remember, self-awareness is in the journey of life, not a destination. It takes time, effort, and practice, but the rewards are well worth it.
As one of our clients, Michael, said, “Self-awareness has been the key to unlocking my full to the love and compassion I carry inside me. It’s helped me to overcome obstacles, build stronger relationships, and achieve success in all areas of my life.”
I hope you found this speech inspiring and helpful. Remember to start with small steps, and be patient with yourself as you become more peaceful and calm. With time and practice, you’ll become more self-aware, as your life transform in remarkable ways.
